T he leader of the patrol called the eunuch again. “There’s two of them. They’re good shots.”

“I’ll call you back.”

The eunuch went to report to Scorpion. He told him to send ten more men. When they arrived, they should work their way down the slope to surround the intruders. He’d make sure to overwhelm this assassin.

The men were quickly assembled, armed with AK47s and grenades. They set out for the hidden steps and the top of the wadi rim. It would be nearly an hour until they reached the first patrol.
